Disney Cruise Line

◼︎ This cruise line is owned by the Walt Disney Company and in addition to four liners, it also owns a private island in the Bahamas, named “Castaway Cay”. In 2011 and 2012, AIP was invited to cooperate on what were then its newest ships, “Disney Dream” and “Disney Fantasy”, fitting out all the suites and the concierge lounges. On the second ship of this series, the “Disney Fantasy”, AIP also created a nightclub based on the theme of the London Underground. Among the highlights of this nightclub is an enormous replica of the Big Ben clock movement. The latest projects for Disney are scheduled for delivery in 2021 and 2022.

Genting Hong Kong Limited (formerly Star Cruises Ltd)

◼︎ The company which is now in Asian hands has been a customer of AIP since the early days in 1997, bringing together the brands Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and Crystal Cruises. AIP’s first projects at the Meyer shipyard in 1997 and 1999 – starting with the “Super Leo” and “Super Star Virgo”– continued without interruption in collaboration with clients and architects until very recently: the latest new builds, the “Genting Dream” and “Genting World”, took our work with this client into the year 2017.

CELEBRITY Cruises

◼︎ This cruise line is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises (RCL) and was founded in 1989 as a stand-alone cruise line by the Greek shipping company Chandris. Its current fleet of five-star luxury liners comprises 24 ships – five of them, which belong to the solstice class, were built at Meyer shipyard in Papenburg in 2007-2008. The ships’ funnels feature a large “X”, a logo of Chandris, representing the Greek letter “Chi”. AIP was assigned to manage the complete construction of more than 125 luxury suites on these ships, plus the entire Fun Factory leisure area for children and teenagers. AIP was also responsible for the crew’s areas, furnishings for the bridge, the hospital and the hairdressing salon.

Norwegian Cruise Line

◼︎ This international cruise line is based in Miami, Florida and is owned by Genting Hong Kong, the third-largest cruise line in the world. It was founded in 1966 by Knut Kloster of Norway and has a fleet of 17 cruise ships offering Caribbean cruises sailing from Miami. Two years later, in 1968, the “Starward” became its first ship to enter into service. To date, the company has commissioned a total of 30 liners and we worked on the interior finishing of 10 of them. AIP has predominantly carried out interior projects for luxury suites in a wide range of categories. These have entailed complete development, starting with the walls, ceilings and floors right through to luxury bathroom fittings – and, as you would expect, interior architectural elements such as cladded walls and ceilings. Each suite was then finished off with individual, architect-designed custom-made furniture. This was combined tastefully with living room furniture, bars, wardrobes, kitchens, bed units and bathroom furniture, all produced in-house.

Royal Caribbean

Carnival Cruise Line (AIDA)

◼︎ Carnival Cruise Lines was founded in 1972 by Israeli-American businessman Theodore “TED” Arison in Miami as a subsidiary of Boston’s American International Travel Service (AITS). The British-American Carnival Corporation & plc is by far the world’s largest cruise operator. Under its brand names, AIDA Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Crociere, Cunard Line, Holland-America Line, P&O Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line, it operates more than 100 liners worldwide. Its headquarters are located in Miami, Florida, USA. AIDAnova is a Helios-class cruise liner that made her maiden voyage for the AIDA Cruises brand in December 2018. She sails under an Italian flag and in 2019, became the first cruise ship to be awarded the “Blue Angel” certification for its eco-friendly ship design. AIDAnova, the 13th vessel in the AIDA fleet, is the world’s first cruise ship operated entirely on low-emission liquid gas (LNG). Amongst other things, AIP was responsible for the interior design of the ship’s restaurants, casino, discotheque, reception, spa area and suites.

P&O Cruises

◼︎ Founded in Great Britain in 1837, this is one of the oldest cruise lines in the world. To begin with, the connections between Spain, Portugal and Great Britain were the main postal routes, but its range was later extended to Eastern Asia and Australia. Over the years, its fleet has included mail boats, container/freight vessels and cruise liners. We carried out our first project in 2000 with the “AURORA”, and with the “IONA” in mid-2020, a new ship will be added to the list of liners for which AIP has set new standards in suites, spas and restaurants.
